Starving Husky Found Dumped in Garbage Bag Takes Her First Walk Outside

Nanook’s life was in jeopardy, but fortunately, the police rescued her in New York City from a trash bag in a parking lot. She was severely underweight and injured, barely clinging to life. AMA Animal Rescue came to her aid when they were contacted about her condition.

She had many infected wounds, and she struggled to lift her head. Upon further examination, emergency veterinarians discovered that she was malnourished, weighing only 14 pounds, and had developed pressure wounds on her legs and muscle atrophy, indicating that she may have been kept in a confined space.

Nanook, estimated to be around four or five years old, has a long road to recovery ahead of her. Despite this, she has demonstrated a strong will to live, and AMA Animal Rescue is astonished by her strength.

After only one month since her rescue, she has made remarkable progress in terms of walking, as evidenced by a video shared by her rescuers on Facebook. Although she still stumbles and has an unsteady gait, they have complete faith in her ability to persevere.

A few weeks after her first walk, Nanook received all her necessary vaccinations and was strong enough to go on her first walk outside.

Her foster family was thrilled to see her excitedly exploring the world around her.

Approximately one month after her rescue, AMA Animal Rescue announced that Nanook is now ready for adoption. While she still requires physical water therapy for a few more months, Nanook has made significant strides in her recovery thanks to her dedicated caretakers. Her forever family must be willing to take her to her therapy sessions and work with AMA Animal Rescue to help her achieve a full recovery.

Nanook is wonderful around people, but she is uncomfortable around small animals like cats and small dogs. She is curious and enthusiastic about large dogs, but she requires guidance on how to properly introduce herself.

As a result, she requires an experienced adopter who can help her learn how to be a good girl. If you would like to contribute to saving more lives like Nanook’s, please visit AMA Animal Rescue’s website to make a donation.
